My name is Melissa, I am asking for help for my sister's family. Here is the start of her story.
I first received this text message from her. "I have noticed some concerning rhythm and heart beat in Jojo so I took him to the pediatric cardiologist and we have now got a diagnosis. Jojo was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension (PHT) which is uncommon for his age. He was sent to Uw Madison's Childern Hospital on Tuesday June 28, 2016 and had a cardiac catherization done to measure the pressure, severity of this and be put on medication to manage this. Please keep him in prayer since there is no cure for pulmonary hypertension and hope that we can get this managed."
On Tuesday June 28th, it has changed their life more than I could image. Jojo's case is very rare and the severity of his pulmonary hypertension is high. Pulmonary Hypertension is high blood pressure in the heart-to-lungs system. It does require treatment in 3 phases. First phase is oral medication. This is what Jojo has been started with. He takes two types of oral medication and wears oxygen at night. Phase two would require IV medication and the last phase would be to have a lung transplant with possible heart and lung transplant. He has a long journy a head with weekly trips to la crosse and madison. Jojo is 6 years old and can't be a kid due to severity of his condition.
Jojo's ability as a normal six year old has now came to an end. He has physical activity restrictions. He will no longer be able to wrestle or play his favorite sport of baseball. He was in the hospital for a week and is home for two weeks. The doctors are working on controlling the pressure in the lungs and heart along with his heart rate due to the medication.
My sister Hollie is the sole provider for the family and with all the doctor appointments along with hospital stays, she is not able to work full time. She is in need of help with gas money to and from the clinic, along with house hold bills, car repairs, and much more along the way.
