Hello!
As most of you know, my name is Genesis Cuen. I am the older sister of Osiris Cuen.
On April 16th we were involved in a severe car accident that left us both injured, the car smashed, and our spirits low.
During the accident, Osiris suffered a head injury that caused a TBI or otherwise known as a Traumatic Brain Injury.
This means she will need lots of support, love and mostly Neaurological Therapy in order to get her back to her normal self. She will be transferred out of the ICU sometime soon and transported to HealthSouth in Scottsdale to begin her rehabilitation as soon as she begins showing signs of communication.
TBI can be largely misunderstood by anyone who has not suffered from it or been directly around someone who has. Basically it puts you back at square one for learning how to connect your brain to your actions. That includes things like speaking, emotions, and basic motor skills. The good news is that I've been connected with a few people who suffered similar brain injuries as Osiris and there definitely is hope!! She will need lots of support through this process, and so I decided to create this Fundraising account. The monthly rates for the rehabilitation center can start at up to 15K a month depending on the needs of the patient. I have called and they have suggested an amount to ask for. ANY LITTLE BIT WILL HELP!!
