Hello Friends and Family! As most of you have heard by now, when LT was coming home from work Friday night, July 1st, he was shot. Here is his own account of the incident and what has transpired since:
"On Friday night/Saturday morning I was shot. Unfortunately I didn't see the shooter. Just heard the shots ring out and felt the one that went through my car door and into my leg. Doctors said I was lucky because I could have lost the leg. The bullet hit 2 of the 3 arteries that are in the leg so to repair those they had to graft a few veins from the other leg. The bullet also struck and broke my fibula. The way the dr said it, they had to fillet my leg to repair the damage to the arteries and is wrapped but the wound is still open. Due to the swelling they cant close it until the swelling is gone. The bullet will also remain in there and my leg and foot are still numb. It is going to be awhile before I'm up and moving. They still need to stitch my leg closed which may be a week or longer, then I will need therapy."
This page is being started in an effort to help raise funds for the family's basic necessities over the coming months as well as hopefully covering preschool costs for their youngest son, Max. Besides this terrible event, Patty and LT's oldest son Michael has been in and out of the hospital since May having had 5 surgeries, most of which involved sorting out the drainage of his brain shunt. While we have reached out to Easter Seals and are using the resources they have provided, his medical bills and safe recovery are also a major concern. During his recovery process LT will be unable to work and Patty's work hours will be limited as she provides care for LT and their boys. This being said, all donations are appreciated and if you're unable to donate at this time, good thoughts and prayers are always welcome. I can truly say this is one of the most beautiful families I have ever met. The adversity and challenges they have been faced with over the past 5 years would have seemed absolutely insurmountable to most of us; they have faced it all in the most incredible way and have two beautiful and happy boys to show for it.
