Gabriel Smith fundraiser
Gabe is an 11 yr old boy from Avoca Beach who loves to surf. A few months ago Gabe was unwell at school with headaches and vomitting. Gabes mum insisted on an MRI which confirmed her worst nightmare - a large brain tumor. Gabe was immediately rushed to Randwick Children's hospital for an extremely risky operation on a very rare and aggressive brain tumor. Unfortunately the surgeon could only remove 50% of the tumor and sadly, Gabe had a small stroke in the operation which has paralysed his left side. As a result, he is unable to walk, move his left arm and see clearly on his left side. The biopsy of the tumor has confirmed the tumor is a very rare childhood cancer (ATRT) and the treatment is at least one year of chemo plus radiation.
Rachel is a single mum with a 14 year old daughter as well. Gabe cannot be left unattended so therefore Rachel can no longer work. The rent and bills keep coming in and the cost of running back and forth from Avoca Beach to Randwick is taking its toll.
Any small amount can help ease the financial pressure that should not even have to be an issue when you are in the fight of your life.
Gabe's surgery went fairly well where they removed 50% of the tumour, however, Gabe has been left with some limited movement on his left hand side as a result. Gabe is a fighter and has an amazing attitude and sense of humour that will see him recover swiftly with the help of physio.
Sadly, the latest news is that the tumor is a very rare form of cancer and will need extensive treatment for 1 year. As you can imagine, this may have many implications on family, logistics and finances so I am urging our community (Local and global) to support Gabe throughout this journey. You have permission to share this post and rally as much support as you can for this deserving family through "Go Fund Me".
Your continued prayers are very much appreciated.
Dear Gabe's parents, I study integrative medicine. An excellent way to kill the brain tumor is to have it injected with sodium bicarbonate by a natural doctor. It disentegrates the tumor. I personally have two friends who have recovered from multiple brain tumors this way. Much safer and cheaper than chemo!
To everyone out there that has donated, thank you so much. I am overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and support. We are still in ICU with Gabe but he is recovering and is stable. With everyone's love, kindness and support behind Gabe we know he will fight this. Thank you again Matt and Jen xx
My heart is over joyed and thankfull beyond what you can imagine .. I have a full heart after having tough few days !! You are all blessings I'll never ever forget your generosity xxxx
