Cheerleading Uniforms

Hello my name is Kristi Wisse and I am a school counselor in a Bridgeport public school. I am trying to raise money to buy proper cheerleading uniforms for the students at my school. Last year was our first year having a cheerleading squad and while we were able to raise money for matching shirts it would be amazing to have matching uniforms so the girls could feel confident when playing other teams.

Uniforms will be purchased and lent out so they can be used each year for the incoming team. The girls cheer at the basketball games which begin early in the year so we would hope to have to funds available so that we could order in the first month of school.

The reason this project means so much to me is because the kids mean so much to me. The students involved in cheerleading improved attendance, grades, school spirit, teamwork, friendships and had a positive activity to be involved in after school. They came to the basketball games on the weekends and became more connected to the school. They deserve to have uniforms and to feel proud when they walk out onto the court. These students are from a very low income neighborhood and cannot afford to pay for these uniforms on their own. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Both the students and I would be very grateful to recieve funding for this team. The uniforms would benefit students for years to come and would help students feel special and proud. They work very hard and I think they deserve to have everything that their counterparts in neighboring towns have.
