Bring The World to My Classroom!

My desire for my classroom is to engage my students, teach them inquiry and real-world skills, and provide a safe place for discovery. Students spend the school year learning about the basic chronology of the United States history while also understanding different people and societies, identifying their past, becoming good citizens, and finding the usefulness of history in their world. This is accomplished through project-based learning, essential questions, and document-based questions while integrating technology every step of the way. The classroom is part of a 1:1 iPad team in which all students have an iPad, they are used in each of their classes, and the iPad goes home with them. 

Unfortunately the iPad is not enough. The iPad does not take us to the locations that we talk about. We do not have the money to visit Mesa Verde (in our own state!), nor the battlefields of the Civil War, nor Washington DC. My students can visit these locations through the incorporation of Google Cardboard. Google Cardboard is an affordable virtual reality that uses a cell phone. 

Each Google Cardboard viewer costs $15, so a small donation can go a long distance! While this is affordable, as a teacher, I cannot purchase 40 of these units. My hope is that your donation will provide a rich, visual experience for my students, and through sharing, can be utilized by other students at school.
