Hi, to all our friends and everyone else. I am a retired union organizer. I am so proud that I was elected to be a Bernie National Delegate to Philadelphia. I have been involved with the Bernie campaign since 2014. Our family gathered signatures on Run Bernie Run petitions starting in 2014.
Ireally got excited and started working hard when Bernie agreed to come to Austin on March 31, 2015. I contacted his campaign office in Vermont and asked them to send me old bumper stickers from his Vermont Senate campaign. They sent us about 500 old red “Re-Elect Bernie” bumper stickers. I cut a red square from the bumper stickers and covered up the “Re-” and gave out the Elect Bernie bumper stickers at the Austin event. We convinced his campaign that we could get at least 200 people to hear Bernie speak. We ended up getting over 500. As Jim Hightower and Bernie were walking into the event, Jim whispered to Bernie “there is something special happening here”. There was indeed something special happening. Once Bernie made the announcement, I started the petition drive to get Bernie’s name on the ballot in Texas with signatures instead dollars and things just kept growing from there. I organized people all across the state to gather the signatures. I helped found Texans for Bernie. Over a year later, after working many hours of phone banking, canvassing, and barnstorming, I am going to Philadelphia as a National Delegate. I would like your help in getting to Philadelphia.
