Fresh Meals for Flood Relief

$2,298 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 42 people in 28 months
We are raising money now to deliver hot meals from a portable kitchen to relief workers helping people dig out from the devastation of the last several days unprecedented rains and flooding.

These workers are frequently overlooked in the middle of a disaster like this, and survive on bottled water and whatever they can grab.  Warm, healthy food is critical to their health and to sustaining their critical relief work.

It takes about $500 to deliver 200 hot nutritious meals to relief workers daily. We have enough funds to start this effort and continue it for a few days only.  Additional funds are desperately needed immediately to keep this effort going.

West Virginians are among the most generous people in the world; they always respond when others are in danger or need.  We need your help now.  Please do whatever you can.

We will report regularly as our work -- made possible by your donations -- goes forward.  We have established a separate bank account for these donations, and all contributions into, and distributions out of, that account will be fully disclosed to donors on request, and made public at regular intervals on our web page.

Thank you.

Keeper of the Mountains Foundation

Keeper of the Mountains Foundation (KOTM) is a 501(c)(3) public charity, formed in 2004 by Larry Gibson to help mountain communities build sustainable and healthy economies. KOTM helped coordinate the distribution of water in January 2014 following the Elk River chemical spill.

Also in 2014, KOTM trucked 1,080 gallons of drinking water to inner city residents of Detroit whose accounts had been closed by the local water utility after the city filed for bankruptcy.

Wow, what a day! We served around 200 plates of fresh homemade tacos and salsa today, thanks to your help. Folks were incredibly grateful. Relief workers and community members were so happy to feel the love you shared.

Let's keep this going, folks! We do best when we work together!

Please share with your friends. Our people have lost everything. The love we share is keeping them during this painful time.

I'm grateful to each and every one of you that has proven that love is not a noun, it is a verb.

In Gratitude and Solidarity,

Paul Corbit

PCB, in taking time out for a quick thanks for my small contribution, pointed out that this July 4th is truly more about our Interdependence. We are all part of one another, so hope everyone finds some time this holiday weekend to show that in some tangible way.
