Eric & Ilene Ewing Home Rehab
A HUGE thank you to all of you who were able to donate, whether it’s time, emotional support, or money, towards Eric’s GoFundMe Cancer Fund . Because of your generosity, Eric is receiving the best treatment and has a positive outlook on the future. Go Eric!
Nobody likes to ask for help, but all of us rely on our family and friends to support us in times of need. You’ve already done so much, but I’m reaching out specifically to see if you can spare some time to help Eric, Ilene, Mason, and Sloan with a special project.
A little background:
I met Eric and Ilene through mutual friends and sold them their first home in Taylorsville, UT back in early 2007. When they moved to Missouri in 2013 they looked at selling their home but due to the decrease in values in the real estate market, they were underwater on their home and unable to sell.
The best decision at the time was to rent it out; however even with a property Management Company they have been losing $150 a month. Having a rental property can take a lot of time, stress, and finances. Even with the improved real estate market over the past few years, their home is still underwater. The most current renters trashed the home. Eric and Ilene contemplated renting it out again but the home has a lot of deferred maintenance due to the renters.
After they came to me for advice, we came to the conclusion to remove this stress from their lives by selling the home, and trying to sell it for as much money as possible. However, this can’t be done without some major and minor updates to the home.
We intend to fix the home up and sell for top dollar to help with medical bills and other expenses. My real estate team will do whatever we can to help, including selling the home for free, but we need your help! I am looking for money to help with materials and volunteers to help with some of the repair items so we can put it on the market and get it sold as soon as possible.
Here is a short list of what the home needs in order to list it on the market to maximize the sales price.
Painter (interior and exterior)
Bathroom remodel (2.5 total)
Kitchen remodel (countertops, cabinets, appliances)
Yard Care (lay sod, weed beds, trim trees, plant flowers, fix sprinklers)
Roofer (I will have the roof checked by a roofer but I’m pretty sure it needs replaced)
Install new interior & exterior doors
HVAC (Furnace either needs serviced or replaced)
Electrical - Repair/Replace light fixtures, outlets
I have received several quotes from contractors on this project and the lowest bid I received was $15,000 for labor only. With the additional $10k in money we are trying to raise, we will use towards materials.
We are also looking to get donated supplies (paint, carpet, tile, etc) to help lower the cost. I plan on contacting Home Depot, Lowes, etc., but hoping between our group someone has contacts to help us with these supplies.
Keep in mind every dollar we can save on materials, will give us more money to help with Eric & Ilene.
Any companies that donate supplies or time will be featured to the public on our websites, social media and any media coverage we can get . Thank you for your consideration.
We will post before and after photos, the sold price of the home as well as the final tally that was donated to Eric and his wonderful family.

I work for a large Property Management company that focuses on Community Service! I have put a call out to all of our team members... I can definitely commit personally to looking at the A/C unit and seeing what the status is. If it needs replacement or can be serviced. Also, most plumbing, electrical repairs when you are ready for that. Let me know what a good time would be to shoot over and assess.
If there is anyone who has time to help out this week 9/14 - 9/17, there are people working on loading up a dumpster and they want to start painting. There is a lot of cleaning to do, we can find work for anyone willing to help!
