Legendary pro football writer Paul Zimmerman, 83, is in a New Jersey assisted-living facility, nearly eight years after three strokes left him without the ability to speak, read or comprehend much about the game he loved so much. The cost of his care and the facility are only covered partially by insurance, and the gap in finances was made far worse by a recent theft from the Zimmermans' home (money and a valuable coin collection he had maintained since his youth were taken). This money was going to be used to keep Paul in the facility, and without it, that won't be possible long-term. Paul and his wife, Linda, are struggling to maintain the status quo.
