Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing you to tell you about an opportunity that I have recently been blessed to take part in.
You may have heard of a missions organization called Youth With A Mission (also known as YWAM). YWAM was founded in 1960 and has been mobilizing young people to spread the love of God to almost every country of the world ever since. YWAM’s sole purpose and passion is to know God and make him known.
For the past two years, I have considered the 6 month Discipleship Training School. After a lot of prayer and a lot of thought, I have applied to a Discipleship Training School (DTS) in Kona, Hawaii. The DTS is split into two phases- the first phase is called the lecture phase. During this time, we go through an intensive training process designed to develop character and a deep intimacy with God. The second phase called the outreach phase. In this phase, we take all that we learn from the lecture phase and apply it on a mission trip. This mission trip could be to places like Thailand, Haiti, India, and the Philippines, just to name some. The main goal of the YWAM DTS is to raise up young leaders who are hungry to see change in the world and equip them to do just that.
God put a burning desire on my heart for missions. YWAM is great opportunity to pursue that desire, grow in myself, and grow in God. Most of the world’s population does not know God, and that is something I feel the need to fix.Through my DTS, I can go out into new countries and spread the gospel, opening others’ eyes and hearts to the love of the Lord.
I would like to ask for your partnership in this. I have gotten where I am today due to lots of prayers and wonderful people, like you, supporting me. I absolutely cannot do this alone! I need your prayers! As much as this will be an amazing experience, it will also be physically, emotionally, and spiritually stretching at times. Your thoughts and prayers will be a huge blessing.
In addition to needing prayer, I am also in need of financial support. The DTS is going to cost around $10,000 depending on our outreach location. However, there are several other factors such as health insurance, airfare, supplies, etc.
Please do not feel obligated to give, but if you can, please prayerfully consider if God is leading you to do so. Mother Teresa once said, “I can do things you cannot; you can do things I cannot. Together, we can do great things.” I know that by reaching out and making my need known to you, it allows the both of us to experience this amazing opportunity.
