Flood Relief for the Cleghorn Fam

$8,970 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 111 people in 23 months
Jonathan and Melissa Cleghorn and their three small children left their home in Clendenin, WV to visit her parents. While they were gone, their entire basement and first floor were flooded in the worst WV flood ever recorded. They lost all their furniture, instruments ( including a family heirloom), all Jonathan and Melissa's clothes, appliances, etc. Only the kids rooms upstairs were undamadged. Ttheir  was porch partially collapsed. They have structural insurance, but they did not have any insurance on any of their possessions. As you can imagine, this will be an almost insurmountable financial challenge for a young family. To top this all off, they are in the middle of a challenging time with their daughter who has special health needs (colostomy bag, etc.).  They are trusting God through this ordeal, knowing that He had a plan. But part of His plan could be for others to show them love by helping out their family financially. If you can't give financially, please pray and share! ❤️

*I am Jonathan's sister and I am raising money for them since I seriously doubt they will do it themselves.  I will personally make sure that every penny goes to help them get back on their feet.

Here's an update from my brother. They have used all the money that was donated towards fixing up their house. Thanks for your generosity. Also: If you are looking for a family to adopt for Christmas, they would be a good one.
Here's the update.....

"Since the last update, we have been able to start rebuilding a good bit of the house. The basement is gutted, cleaned, and re-wired, and we have shifted all our efforts to the first floor, which has also been gutted and cleaned. Thanks to several groups of skilled volunteers, we have leveled several floors, installed new subfloors, run wiring and insulation, and drywalled the first floor. Another volunteer crew did the taping and mudding for us, and we were able to paint and prime the walls. I am now working on making all the electrical connections such as outlets, switches, lights, etc, and when that is complete we will be able to start installing the new flooring and cabinets.

In the mean time, we have been renting a 30-foot fifth wheel, which the owner parked in our back yard for us. Being on our own property has helped restore at least some normalcy for the boys, and allows me to work on the house anytime I have a free evening. But we certainly are looking forward to moving back into the house, where we will have room to turn around without bumping into each other :-) At this point, our admittedly ambitious goal is to be able to move back into the house by Christmas.

Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us! Please continue, as we keep working towards moving back in."

From Jonathan.....
Cleanup supplies can be expensive if you aren't fortunate enough to have them given/loaned. This week, I've bought 1000 feet of electrical wiring and $2,000 of HVAC ductwork and supplies. The two weeks before that, I bought $500 of lumber and $800 of concrete and rebar. Many of you reading this have sent incredibly generous donations. I thank you for that, with all my heart. I know that money seems like such an impersonal and heartless gift. But the thing about money is that it is very utilitarian--whatever the family you are helping needs, cash can provide it (ok, well, to a certain extent, at least :-). Also, you can donate in whatever increment you can afford. Don't have enough money to buy a kid a new bike? That's ok! $10 is enough to buy three 10-foot 2x4s! Or to help parents replace a lost bike! Most of the money we have been given has been in smaller amounts. When 100 different people give you $10 each, that suddenly has become $1000, which is enough to make serious progress with!

Thank You!!

Thank you so much for all the gifts you have showered in my brothers family. It has helped so much. Even mundane things like toilet paper, kitchen goods, Etc. will all have to be replaced. So every $10 helps!! Here is an update from Jonathan.......
"We have demolished the first floor and are finishing up the basement. Still have to start garage cleanup. Waiting to hear from insurance and FEMA to see what they say--find out if we need clearance to rebuild or not. "
Their story has been shared close to 400 times. Thank you for helping to spread the word!! ❤️
