Deana's Fight for Life

Donation protected

Please meet Deana (Broughton) Wilson, our beloved daughter, sister, cousin, friend and most importantly the 40 year old mother of 3 beautiful children between the ages of 16-3 years old. On the early morning of April 25, 2016 in her Sylmar, CA home, during her efforts to end a long-term toxic and domestically abusive relationship with her husband once and for all, Deana was tragically shot in the face by him. Her husband then turned the gun on himself and took his own life all while the two youngest of the children were there in the home.

This tragic event made the local Los Angeles news and at the time the news had reported her as being in stable condition. However, after her arrival at the hospital she went into cardiac arrest and was unresponsive for over 35 minutes while the doctors performed intensive CPR on her and successfully brought her back to life. She is currently in a coma and on life support fighting for her very life in the intensive care unit and has had several operations in order to stabilize her over the last week alone. We are still waiting to see if any brain damage has occurred and what her true medical prognosis may be. As we are optimistic and remain positive on a full recovery as she is a strong woman that has so much to fight for and as she has shown subtle signs that encourages us on her pulling out of this tragedy, we do realize that she will still have a long road ahead of her with countless surgeries to still be completed - including the delicate surgical procedure of removing the bullet that is lodged near her neck/spine. She will need intensive physical rehabilitation as well as the emotional therapy/support she and her children will most certainly require as part of their healing process.

Her medical bills will no doubt be astronomical and as she continues to remain in the hospital for an unforeseen amount of time, her household bills are adding up and are due to be paid. Our family and friends have graciously been stepping forward to contribute to the best of our abilities, but we are exhausting our own resources and now need to reach out for the public’s help.

This beautiful woman and loving mother needs your help so we can make sure that when she is strong enough to return home she will have one to go home to that is safe and sound. We would also like to ensure that her bills are kept current so that she would only need to worry about her recovery and rehabilitation and to not have to worry about any additional debt incurred.

As Deana has young children we would like to make sure that their care and needs will be covered during her recovery so that she will not have to worry about her inability to earn an income while she herself is healing.

She has gone through a very traumatic situation as well as being a victim of domestic abuse for years that we would like to raise enough funds that if we are able to fix up her home where needed and purchase a few new items for her home to help her transition into a comfortable setting.

We ask each of you to please contribute to her recovery fund so that we can see to it that she has the financial ability to do so without the additional burdens on her. We personally thank you, and thank you on Deana’s behalf as well, for the kindness and generosity of all contributions provided.
