Benny Our Paralyzed ShihTzu

Benny is a sweet and sassy 10 year old Shih Tzu..found on the streets..We adopted Benny 3 months ago from Detroit Animal Rescue Group(DAWG). One morning he just leaped off my lap from the bed, he was anxious to get his morning treat. Within 1/2 hour, his back legs were paralyzed.. It also effected his bladder. His enzymes are raised and he had 2 infections. My husband and I learned to catheter Benny at home 3 x day. I pray in tears every time I hv to put him thru this. He's a good little man. just couldn't believe this was happening to him, after all he had been through, prior to us adopting him. His prognosis was poor. His Diagnosis.. T3-L3 Myelopathy, acute disc extrusion of the spine .. Benny has now been in water therapy, has been seeing an animal chiropractor, who has been wonderful for him. , and recently had acupuncture. He is gaining feeling in his back legs again, but not walking. .therapy is helping. We exercise him everyday to try to build his muscle in his legs. Everyday we see progress. We hv hope he will walk again. He's still healing and will be for months yet. Eventually, we will get him a cart. It's getting very expensive to buy the catheters and syringes he needs to continue cathetering him. Benny continues to need therapy, which is getting very costly. We love him and never complain. But, we could use some help now. I tried not to ask. But it's for Benny's sake we continue all his therapies. I know we can get him to walk again! Benny is fighting hard to get well again.
