TSA After-School Program S.T.E.M.

Help local Tehachapi students get the most out of their summer!!!
During the summer months we offer a S.T.E.M. Class to the members of The Salvation Army Tehachapi After-School Program. The S.T.E.M. Class is centered around components of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We take the students through the different componenents by educating them in a classroom type setting and then having them participate in hands-on activties to help them apply what they have learned.
Much of our attending youth come from low income families who are served year 'round through our other Salvation Army programs as well.
It is our desire to keep all of our program activites free for the students, so we are asking the community of Tehachapi for help funding the S.T.E.M. class this summer.
We currently have the following schedule for our S.T.E.M. Class:
Week 1: Murder Mystery Dinner (learning about document tampering, DNA Analysis & fingerprint analysis)
Week 2: Chemistry Sets - Visit CA Science Center
Week 3: Learning how airplanes are built & fly - building model airplanes
Week 4: Astronomy - Learn about the stars and how they can help us - Visit Griffith Observatory & Planetarium
Week 5: Building Eco Systems
Week 6: Popsicle Stick Bridges
Week 7: LEGO Mindstrom Robots
