My Frost Place Conference on Poetry

Donation protected

Dear Family, Friends, Writers, Educators & Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to share with you that I have been awarded a scholarship to be part of The Frost Place Conference on Poetry for this summer. Scholarships are awarded based solely on the merit of the work submitted, ideas, and craft. In addition, The Frost Place celebrates and strives for diversity.

Being part of The Frost Place in New Hampshire will be another dream come true. Last summer, with the help of many of you, I was able to be part of Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference in Vermont. As a Poet, my teachers always suggested that some day, I would like to apply for such distinguished writers’ conference, but the odds to secure one of the 25 spots available each year, as a Work-Study Scholar, were near impossible. I made it to this prestigious writing retreat because of your help. I could not have accomplished this milestone without your help. I thank you so much for every single penny you contributed to my fundraising effort.

Indeed, once I returned to California, I revised my manuscript, Child of the Grasses, with all of the great craft tools I had learned at Bread Loaf. I am so proud to share that Child of the Grasses was a 2016 finalist for the Andres Montoya Poetry Prize administered by the University of Notre Dame’s Letras Latinas.

This year, I have been blessed. I have been offered admission and a scholarship to be part of The Frost Place Conference on Poetry in July. Yet, the scholarship only covers some of the tuition and room and board fees. This means I have to come up with the difference.

I would like to ask you to be part of this great experience by contributing to my fundraising effort. Please, take a minute from your busy schedule to read and learn about my fundraising effort. I hope you can help me reach my fundraising goal of $900 dollars that will help me reach another milestone in my writing career. Any help will be much appreciated.

I would like to spend a week at “intensive poetry camp” with writers who are deeply committed to learning more about the craft of writing poetry. The Frost Place Poetry Conference offers daily workshops, classes, lectures, writing and revising time in a supportive and dynamic environment. I am hoping your good will and support will help me get to New Hampshire for The Frost Place Conference on Poetry in July.

I thank you in advance and long live Poetry.

Sincerely,

Gerardo Pacheco Matus
