Fortuna Family Fund
$24,772 of $5,000 goal
I know Michael, Tanya and their two beautiful girls from North Shore softball. My youngest daughter was lucky enough to have been on two teams that Mike coached. If you know the family, you know how giving, selfless and caring they are.
The money will be used by the family for whatever is needed, groceries, summer camps for the girls, gas, etc.
I know that Michael and Tanya would never ask anyone for money, so I am doing it for them. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Since being transferred to inpatient rehab for his brain injury, Michael has come a long way in a short period of time. He was in great physical shape before all this and so we know that has helped tremendously with his physical ability to recover. His team of therapists have worked so hard for him to start regaining his basic abilities. Michael has worked so hard! I'm truly amazed by him each day.
He's eager to come home. Of course, we are eager to have Daddy home, too. When he does come home, it will be awhile before he will want visitors. But please keep sending along your get well wishes - whether on here, his Facebook page or via email. I know he will start reading them in the near future and they will mean a lot to him.
The girls have enjoyed visiting Daddy daily. He definitely lights up for them. Thank goodness for children! They give us strength and inspiration to keep going each day.
We are by no means in the home stretch - but rather "the stretch to get home".
It's hard to know what lies ahead. But our prayers were answered - we have our Michael still and that's truly all that matters.
Because I can't say it enough, thank you for all the support through this ordeal.
Michael is progressing so well! It is unimaginable what he went through Saturday night - only 5 days ago - and how far he has come.
Again, I'm trying to speak for him when he literally cannot. And so I am trying to give him some privacy while knowing so many people are worried about him.
Michael had surgery Saturday night to deal with his head injuries. The surgery went very well and there has been no additional trauma concerning that. He had an additional surgery 2 days later for severe injures to his face. With both, the surgeons were very confident and now time will tell.
Michael was weaned off sedation completely last night and has been responding more and more every hour to stimulation.
He still has several injuries that will keep him from fully communicating for awhile but I'm so happy to report that we can ask him questions about pain and he will nod, or ask him to move his fingers and he will.
Michael's road to recovery will be long. There is no expected date of leaving the hospital at this time. I know everyone would love an update but we just focus on one day at time - one milestone at a time. And milestones are small...like getting him off breathing support. That's our next hurdle.
Well, that's all I can tell you for now. I feel confident his strength, determination and will to get back to his family/life/friends is helping him in his fight.
And many of you know and are concerned about my nephew Trennon. He suffered severe injuries to his leg and needs your prayers. He and his family have a long, painful road ahead of them. That amazing little boy needs your prayer circles and positive energy.
There are literally no words to convey our gratitude at the outpouring of support from all of you. This was an unimaginable tragedy that has given us unimaginable support from family, neighbor's, friends, school classmates, bandmates, our softball family, childhood friends, the list is endless.
Your generosity is deeply touching and we will never be able to express our full gratitude.
We hope to see all you generous Fortuna-funders at Fortuna-Fest next Wednesday! https://www.facebook.com/events/1637591599889985/?ti=icl
Thank you so much for the update! Glad he is progressing. We're all thinking of you and your family.
