My Name is Troy Duquette, I am a remodeling contractor in Rockwall, Texas. Who is a hands on contractor.
I work check to check. I recieved a check for a remodel last wednesday ($11,460). I went to bank of america to cash the check and from there I went two doors down to wells fargo and deposited $1,460 and left the rest out in cash to purchase materials and pay 2 of the guys helping me. I walked out of the bank empty handed. I drove across town to 7-11 to get gas, I took $100 from the envelope to pay for gas and locked the rest in my van. I was followed by two vehicles from the bank to the gas station and one of the people seen me leave the envelope in my van. I walked into pay for my gas and when i returned I went to put the envelope back in my pocket and the money was gone.
called 911 and went into different business's getting video footage, not waiting on the police.
The money that was took, was not my money, I just want to be able to do the job my customer paid me to do. That was all the money I had to my name! I work 80-120 hours a week to provide for my family. I've never expected anything to be given to me, but I'm not able to Pay for the job i was paid to do.
I'm a good person, that helps anyone, anytime. I dont understand how this happened to me!My wife is always telling me to watch around me. I do believe there was a reason I left the money in my van and not in my pocket, it could of turned out worse and I am thankful to be alive for my wife, daughter and grandson.
I will devote my time looking for suspicious people, and looking out for other people so they dont become victims like myself.
