Celebrating Local Kids

I am part of the Jumpstart Riverhead progam. The program is for  local artists to learn to Get a jumpstART on their artistic careers. As part of the program we also use our creativity to enrich the local community. I am currently working on a project to celebrate the local kids of Riverhead.

Idea
Visually celebrate and capture the unique spirits of the Riverhead community.

How
I would like to paint four local Riverhead children with the help and permission of their parents. I will ask them questions about what they like about growing up in Riverhead and get to know each child. I will paint their portraits in a way to empower them as well as the viewer. The goal is to remind parents of their inner child as I am celebrating these four unique individuals and their love for their hometown.
