SOLO: Verdi's La Traviata

Southern Ontario Lyric Opera (SOLO) is the result of artistic minds coming together to bring opera into our community. Our non-profit organization has performed at several local events and concerts, including participation in a fundraiser for Syrian refugees and at Villa Italia (a retirement residence) as part of our outreach program. The scope of the performances that we have been involved with in the past year with soloists, chorus and orchestra demonstrate that we conduct professional level work. Due to enthusiastic reception from our audiences and fellow artists, we have brought our focus to even more ambitious goals.

On September 17, we present our first complete opera, "La Traviata" (The Fallen Woman), by Giuseppe Verdi at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring opera into the community. Through local performances, we hope to create a special, inclusive and affordable experience that will attract community members of all ages. We plan to stay constantly visible in the community through continued participation in local events and concerts, however, presenting a complete production will give local art lovers a chance to truly appreciate the beauty of opera. Our goal is to help ensure the sustainability of this art form for generations to come.

SOLO has brought together an exceptional group of artists to bring you an extraordinary performance. We have great confidence in our company and our initial concerts have demonstrated the artistic ability of our performers and musicians. To keep opera in the community and allow for the development of an inclusive and accessible experience, we need your help.
