Lisa's Cancer Medical Fund

My wife Lisa was diagnosed with HER2 breast cancer at the end of January 2016. A month previous to that, we also found out she was pregnant with our 4th child. We met with an oncologist and surgeon who both suggested immediately starting chemotheropy and a mastetomy. However, Lisa is determined to beat this in an untradional fashion; through diet and strengthening her own immune system so that it will do what it is designed to do in fighting and destroying the cancer by itself.

About 2 months ago Lisa started to develop back pain. As days and weeks went on, the pain slowly got worse. On May 12 I took her to the emergency room where we live in Nashua, NH because the back pain was so severe. They evaluated her and could not conclude on what the cause was. She was given a pain prescription and sent off. The pain meds helped, but they soon ran out. Along with the pain were severe muscle spasms

She again landed in the ER on the evening of May 24 for severe back pain again. They were about to discharge her, but this time we insisted they find out what was going on. After an MRI was performed, we found out she had a few compression fractures in her back. She was admitted to the hospital for 5 days, finally being released on Sunday May 29 with more pain meds and a back brace so that her back can maintain a position to help alleviate pressure on the fractures in her back. We were also blessed to receive a walker and other equipment to make her life easier for free. However, we did receive some troubling news from the hospital visit which was that the cause of the fractures could be because her cancer has spread to her back.

Since back in February, she's had an appointment on June 13 with a doctor in Colorado who uses quantum physics to analyze her body and make recommendations for diet to enable her body to heal itself. She had to make it Colorado though. She was able to get on a flight with her mom and dad on Saturday June 11 and our youngest son Tyler. It was an extremely uncomfortable flight, but she made it.

As if being pregnant, having breast cancer, and compression fractures in your back wasn't complicated enough, we are moving to Texas this week so I can start a new job this month. Lisa is currently in a state of needing constact care from someone, primarily due to the debilitating pain in her back.

We have already incurred thousands of dollars of medical expenses for her care, and the road to her recovery is just beginning. Thankfully we have insurance, but insurance doesn't cover everything, especially when the treatment isn't coming from a hospital, so there are probably several thousands of dollars more of expenses we will yet incur.

We have already been deeply blessed by the outpouring of help we've received from fellow church members and wonderful neighbors who have dropped everything to watch our kids so I could still work, or provided meals while Lisa has been unable to really do anything.

Lisa is due on August 28, however, in her current condition we are certain that the baby will need to be delivered early. We hope she can physically make it to 34 weeks, that's still about a month away.

We want to make sure that Lisa makes a full recovery and that we have the money we will so desperately need to buy the things she will need. She has a very long road ahead of her though, likely months of treatment and additional pain.

Lisa is the center of our family, the glue that keeps us together. We need her to see our kids grow up so she can witness all of the milestones that parents should get be able to see with their kids.

Anything you can give will help. If you cannot give anything, your prayers and faith will help us to keep moving forward. Thank you!
