Our family has been through so much in the time since the horrific shooting at Pulse in Orlando. Unfortunately our hours of hoping and praying the unknown would be answered with a miracle were answered with heartbreak, we were notified early Monday morning that Amanda Alvear was among the deceased inside Pulse. We are overwhelmed by the incredible outpouring of support we have received from all over the world. Thank you Brian for sharing about Amanda on CNN. I'm sorry for your loss. The girl in this picture is my 17 year old daughter who died in 1999. Like your sister she wanted to be a nurse. I've been a nurse for many years and your story really touched my heart. It is so hard during your time of grief to share but it is so important for your sister to be remembered.

I dedicated my life to cancer research where the focus of many individuals is to find a cure and save people's lives. It is inconceivable to imagine that there are people out there that have absolutely no respect for life. They are so much into their own ideologies and dogmas that forget what life and love are all about. I just read about Amanda sacrificing her life to try and save her friend Mercedez Flores. That is true love for another human being. Only angels can do that. R.IP. Amanda and Mercedez, the world should never forget.
