Computer Academy for Orphans

We are raising funds to purchase 10 Raspberry Pi educational microcomputers and 10 monitors to create a small computer network where children at the orphanage can learn technology skills to help raise them out of poverty. 


This is the orphanage in Uganda we are trying to help:
Children Rescue Voluntary Organization (Restoring Lost Hope)  


I am a US Army Iraq/Afghanistan veteran and have seen first hand the dangers of not lending a helping hand where you see fit. Tumwesigye Leonard, the director of Children Rescue Voluntary Organization (CRVO) is a very kind hearted man who I have known for quite some time now, and realized I could help them out greatly by aiding in the assembly of a small computer laboratory out there to form the basis of an academy. One of the easiest ways to combat the spread of violence is to provide a means for those to uplift themselves. They have next to nothing exept hope and faith in God that they will be helped.



I am a certified Systems Administrator and I will administer the network remotley and remotely aid in the setup when the devices arrive. I am donating my time and experties for this cause free of charge, of course. I will also be helping them in their initial training until they are capable of running the network and training classes themselves. 


The Raspberry Pi Foundation helps support these types of intiatives as well and there exists many programs that will be able to be used for education of these orphans who have nothing but hope.


We will use the funds to purchase the 10 devices, power supplies, keyboards, mouse and monitors. Any excess funds will go to a generator or improving the newly founded Academey. 100% of donated funds will be spent on the orphanage. 


With the power of a group effort, we can all make a massive lasting impact on countless lives and perhaps an entire region.


Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, feed him for life.


This was my idea, not theirs. I spent over a year vetting Mr. Leonard and his Organization, and he never asked for any of this.
