I am Terry Mellick and I am Stanton's older Brother.
Stanton Mellick my Brother was attacked at his home in Bundaberg Queensland by a stranger and was so viciously assaulted that he will never work again.
He sustained such horrific injuries that he was admitted to ICU at the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he remained in a coma for two weeks.
His injuries included: A crushed skull - broken jaw - smashed eye socket & eye - punctured lung - stab wound to the upper thigh - loss of numerous teeth - and as you would imagine numerous cuts and abrasions.
Stanton had no defensive wounds which would indicate he was more than likely unconscious from the first blow.
He has undergone two surgeries to his head, the first to repair his skull, jaw and eye socket and the second to remove bone matter, fluid and also part of his brain.
Stanton still remains in hospital recovering from his surgeries.
Stanton will be in rehabilitation for about two years and presently is conscious, regaining some but limited memory but is unable to walk or attempt any other motor skills.
Any money raised will be used threefold:
1. To pay for all the extra and additional medical costs including the extensive dentistry that will be required to attain some normality;
2. To have all his belongings moved from Bundaberg to Brisbane and to assist with the set up of special and tayored accommodation to meet his new needs including whilst he is being rehabilitated; and
3. Acquit those little debts that we all have thinking we have years to pay them off.
For all those people that know Stanton we all agree on the fact that he is generous to a fault and is a pacifist to the extreme and had this person asked then he would have been given what he wanted and more.
Please help us to help Stanton today and for all of his tomorrows.
