Gabriel's Medical Fund

My name is Mandy Leafloor and on September 28, 2015, my son Nikolas and his friend Gabriel set out from Gatineau, Quebec for an adventure of a lifetime, a trip around the world!  Two young men excited about experiencing cultures and beautiful countries. They started in India and continued to Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand and most recently Vietnam.  They were then going to Laos, Australia,  Africa, South America and finishing with the Pacific Coast Trail from California to British Columbia.

On June 5th, 2016, 8 months into their trip and on their way to the Laos border, Gabriel had a motorcycle accident and broke both collar bones,  and a rib which perforated a lung.   Early in their trip, the caring and responsible moms we are,  took out Blue Cross travel insurance, even though our boys both told us, "no need, everything will be fine".   Due to a technicality, Blue Cross HAS DENIED Gabriel's claim  to cover his medical costs.   His mom is finally on a plane to Vietnam after having to experience red tape to even leave Canada. While she was trying to leave Canada, her son had surgery, on his own, by himself.  My son had to leave the Country as his visa was expiring so he could not even be by his friend's side during this difficult time.

I am just a mom trying to help out another mom who has gone through so much these past 5 days.  I am hoping to raise funds to help cover part of the medical costs for Gabriel.  We don't know how long he will have to remain in hospital before he can be medically cleared to fly back to Canada.  

I would be so grateful for any funds you can contribute.  Gabriel is an incredible young man whose goal is to recover 100% back in Canada and then rejoin my son somewhere in the world as my son continues his journey on his own.
