Support The Stoughton Fair

The Stoughton Fair beginning June 29 ending on July 4th is a 90 year tradition held in Stoughton, WI to give children an opportunity to show off their 4-H and FFA exhibits to the public. The Fair is planned, organized, and put on by a VOLUNTEER Fair Board.The fair receives no funding from the city, county, or state. The fair is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization that depends on sponsorships and donations from local businesses and families, and we appreciate them SO MUCH!The fair does not charge admission to the fairgrounds and offers both free and paid amission events in the grandstand to offer entertainment. One of the events that has been held for years is Pig Wrestling. The event gives participants 60 seconds to try to catch a 200+ lb. pig and get its belly on top of an upside down bucket with the feet off the ground. The Stoughton Fair has probably the strictest rules in place to ensure the saftey of the pigs.  A Madison, WI based Animal Right Activist group has demanded the fair cancel the event and has bullied some of our long time sponsors of the fair (not of the event which we ask no business to sponsor) into dropping their donations and sponsorships of the fair. These funds are extremely important to the success of the fair but the fair will not be bullied into cancelling events activists don't agree with. We respect our donors who chose to avoid dealing with Animal Rights Terrorists but we need to make up those funds that help pay for the kids premiums, their ribbons, the kids who work in the kitchen, the kids who work on the grounds crew and our events that cost us a great deal to provide. The group has even been harassing our board members employers and the local police demanding the board be arrested. We have now had to seek legal protection. We all volunteered to be on this board because we love our fair, our exhibitors, and our community. Please support the 91st Stoughton Fair. Thank You!
