The Engelhart's Financial Help

Donation protected
On June 6, 2016, Breighton Engelhart and his 1 year old son, Daniel, were involved in a serious motor vehicle crash in their home town in Pennsylvania.  The accident involved Breighton’s pickup truck and a dump truck totaling Breighton’s truck. The local fire department extricated both Breighton and his son from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life due to the severity of the crash. Both Breighton and Daniel were rushed to the hospital where Breighton underwent emergency surgery to repair multiple fractures, including his hip and femur. His son Daniel, thankfully, only received minor injuries and is now home with his family recovering.

Breighton is a Professional Firefighter/EMT and recently graduated recruit school with Loudoun County Fire Rescue in Northern Virginia last month. He is also a member of both the International Association of Fire Fighters and Loudoun Career Firefighters Association, Local 3756.

Due to the severity of his injuries, the most recent prognosis is that Breighton will be out of work for approximately nine months before he can return to duty.  Breighton and his wife, Tara, are both employed, but Tara will be staying home to take care of him while Breighton is wheelchair bound.  Breighton will have limited ability to care for himself for a number of weeks and Tara will be the primary care taker for not only their son, but Breighton as well. This unfortunate accident will truly be a financial hardship on this young family since neither of them will be working.

Their pickup truck is totaled and will need to be replaced.  The family is also are anticipating rising medical bills from the length of stay, follow up visits and additional surgeries required for Breighton to recover.

As Breighton is a newer employee, he does not have a large leave balance accumulated to help cover his time off.  The overwhelming response to help his family from his co-workers, fellow union members, and the Executive Board of Local 3756 is the true meaning of brotherhood.  So far the career firefighters from LCFR have ensured coverage for all of his shifts through July, are building a wheelchair ramp at his home, and have sat with the family in the surgical waiting area offering any support they can.  We appreciate all of you and what you are doing to help your brother.

The Loudoun Career Firefighter’s Association, Local 3756, has created this go fund me account to help the family with medical expenses, vehicle replacement and other financial responsibilities that the family will incur while Breighton recovers. We thank you for your donation, and request you please share the page.

Thank you, please keep Breighton, Tara and Daniel in your thoughts and prayers as they begin the long road to recovery!
