The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty.  The secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.

Deputy's with the Harford County Sheriff's Office formed the Harford County Police Unity Tour Riders in 2013 after the agency lost two of their own in September 2012.  Since the 2012 tragedy’s, the agency lost an additional two deputies in a single incident on February 10, 2016.  Prior to those dates, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office grieved losses in 2010, 2006, and 1899.

The Harford County Police Unity Tour Riders started with 6 Deputy's. Honoring the men and women from their own agency, they honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice from around the United States by participating in this prestigious fundraising and awareness bicycle ride.

In order to continue the tradition honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, the Unity Tour Riders have to raise funds per rider.  Today, the number of rider’s is up to 16.  This includes riders from the Sheriff’s Office and the Aberdeen Police Department.  Together, Deputy’s and Officer’s from these two agencies have made the commitment, now they need your support.

The Harford County Police Unity Tour Riders will begin their journey on bicycle from Philadelphia, PA on May 8th, 2017 and end at the site of the Fallen Officer’s Memorial in Washington, D.C. on May 12, 2017.

We humbly ask for your support by making a donation to ensure the riders can ride.  Thank you.

History of the Police Unity Tour:
In May 1997 the Police Unity Tour was organized, by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park Police Department, with the hope of bringing public awareness of Police Officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices.

What started with 18 riders on a four day fundraising bicycle ride from Florham Park, NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. has grown into nine chapters consisting of over 2200 members nationwide who make the trip annually.

This past May we were proud to announce that we were able to donate over 2.3 Million Dollars to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund bringing our total donations to 20 Million Dollars.

In late 2005, the Police Unity Tour pledged $5 Million in support of the National Law Enforcement Museum.  Inspired by our commitment and our motto, “WE RIDE FOR THOSE WHO DIED” the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has selected our organization to be the sponsor of the Museum’s Hall of Remembrance.

Having completed the $5 Million commitment to the Museum in 2009 the Police Unity Tour dedicated the 2010 ride to the restoration of the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. The $1.1 Million restoration project includes the re-engraving, coating and sealing of the 18,983 names on the memorial as well as the cleaning of the walls and other memorial improvements.

In 2011 the Police Unity Tour became the official sponsor of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund’s “Officer of the Month Program”. Officers of the Month are honored at a special awards luncheon each May in Washington, DC during National Police Week, and they are featured in the Memorial Fund’s annual calendar. The Police Unity Tour is also proud to sponsor the NLEOMF’s “Recently Fallen Alerts”.
