Blake's Brain procedure

Hello friends.
Some of you may have heard that I have been recently diagnosed with a pineal tumor. The bad news is I have a tumor in my brain but the good news is I finally know what has been causing my daily debilitating headaches as well as the frequent muscle spasms and seizures. The neurological symptoms are getting progressively worse and are starting to affect my thought process and speech. As you might imagine, this is a scary place to find myself.


As many of you know I am a stay at home dad to an awesome one year old. At this point I have been told I can no longer drive or care for my son unassisted. This is a significant hardship on my loved ones and an additional financial burden.


We are still looking into things and I am still consulting with a couple of specialists,but it is looking very likely that surgery to remove the tumor may very well be my only treatment option. The trouble with the surgical option is there are only a few reputable neurosurgeons in the US that are willing to perform this surgery and insurance will pay some but not all.



I am now faced with not only the medical expense but travel costs as well as none of the reputable surgeons are local to me. Not to mention the added expense of child care for my son and time away from work for my wife when I do go in for surgery.



I have taken a long hard look at the road ahead and honestly as difficult as it will be I want and need my life back. I am only 34 years old and I have a lot of living yet to do. I want to be a father to my son and a husband to my wife and when I am in daily pain and experiencing increasing neurological deficits, that is a difficult thing to do.


I am not the kind of man who asks for help easily. I much prefer to be the one doing the helping but my hands are tied in this particular situation.
