Let's make history!!
I spent most of my winter campaigning for Bernie Sanders to get onto the ballot in Ohio. I spent countless hours walking around downtown Cincinnati meeting and talking to people about Sanders one-on-one. Singlehandedly I collected 5% of the necessary votes to get him on the ballot.
I have been active in local groups meeting and discussing what steps we should take and spreading the word on how to get attention to the things that matter most to our campaign.
This year I was elected as a Bernie Sanders Ohio Congressional District 2 Delegate for the Democratic National Convention. Note that my legal name (for all your validation needs) is Kristen Mason. I go by Demeter Rhodes to friends and on social media.
We NEED to enact change. We NEED all of our delegates present at the DNC to push the issues that are important to this campaign. Send me there and I promise to spend every hour at a meeting, a caucus, a rally, giving speeches, anything that needs to be done to push the issues. I won't be one of those delegates spending all my time at happy hours smoozing. I WILL be enacting change.

This convention is EXPENSIVE and delegates are expected to foot the bill ourselves. The hotel is over $400 a night. Parking is going to cost around $100. I've been told to expect food at the convention to be $20 a meal (and no, I can't pack my own). Not to mention travel to and around Philadelphia, time off work, and all the other costs of being in a strange city for a week. All in all, delegates are expected to spend approximately $4000.
As a single 25 year old I just can't afford the entire convention alone. I'm saving cost by driving to Philadelphia instead of flying. I've also been able to cut half the costs by identifying a home near the Ohio hotel I can stay at (Ohio doesn't require their delegates to stay at the hotel as long as they promise to be there by 7am each morning).
