Need One More Month in My Apartment

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Jessica. My best friend, and roommate of seven years, passed away a few weeks ago after a tough battle against cancer. Her arrangements are taken care of, but I can no longer keep our apartment, and with my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and chronic pain (from multiple sources), I've been unable to pack and clean quickly enough to get moved out. Even if I could get my things out of the apartment, I'd likely be staying in my car a while, which I've done before and which is not a fun time, especially when you're ill. Worse, it would force me to give up our cats, Mr. Purr and Bitty Bit, which would break my heart and theirs. The cats are seniors who have already lost everything else they've ever known (we lost our 16-year-old cat earlier this year as well); I don't want them to lose me, too.

I have plans to get a place together with some friends this summer, but we don't have a place just yet. If I can make rent and utilities here for one more month, it would take a lot of the pressure off by giving me more time to finish packing and house-hunt, as well as get the cats to the vet so they can safely be introduced to my friends' pets.

If I meet the goal, all money received will go towards this month's rent and utilities. Any possible extra would go towards the cats' vet visits and the deposit on whatever new place we find. If I somehow exceed the goal, any extra will likewise go towards the cats' care and the new place. If the landlords are unwilling to work with me and demand I get out immediately, the money will go first to getting my things into storage (which is already likely covered) and then to the cats' care while we look for a place, and the deposit on that place.

I know that staying in my car, or even staying on friends' couches, will only hurt me in this condition. I've lost personal belongings in the past to unfortunate circumstance and I can't bear the thought of the cats being left alone in a shelter with their likely low chance of adoption. One more month means that much better chance of not getting sicker, not losing my things, and not losing the cats, who are the most important after my own health.

Any amount, no matter how big or small, is appreciated and I will be forever grateful for your help. I can't offer anything in return but my undying gratitude.

I know I'm not very good at being succinct, but thank you for reading.
