Hey, everyone.
Let me tell you about my little furry, four-legged, child.
We adopted her from the pound about 2 years ago.
When we walked by her, she was shy and hid towards the back of the kennel. She always perked up when someone else walked around outside the kennel, with that growly-'gorrrrr'. When we saw her, I fell in love instantly but we wanted to see if there were others that direly needed a new loving home. But I couldn't get my mind off this little girl. The pound said she was 5 months old since she was so small (she is a medium sized dog) but soon we found out that she wasn't no puppy. She was, at least, 1-2 years old (but we're thinking that she was, at least, 2.5-4 years old back then.) It's hard to tell her age because she has super clean adult teeth and still has that puppy-look. We were able to get into the kennel with her, one at a time, and it took only a few moments before she started crawling into my lap. When we went to fill out paperwork, you could hear her cry. Was such a heart broken, yet happiest, sound because we were going to bring her home. She was so scared of everything from the couches to cars and everything in between. It took a long time to help her through her fears and now she's used to most things and doesn't stress out as much when outside on walks and those short trips to stores.
But two weeks ago, things took a turn...
She began to cry when she laid down/gets up, keeping weight off her left hind-leg. As any worried parent, I immediately got a vet appointment and got her checked out. She was so tense that they couldn't pinpoint what was wrong, so they sent us home with some medication.
Chai's check-up and dental was this morning. Super early. (12/19/15)
She's been at the vet since 7am.
Her teeth are still pearly white, perfectly healthy. Just a little bit of tartar (barely visible).
Her hips though, is a whole different story. She has hip dysplasia. Found out through x-ray today.
The vet told me that she will be needing surgery on her left side. He gave me two options: a full hip replacement or a FOA (I forgot what FOA stood for). Hip replacements are expensive and FOA's are a little cheaper (from what they told me) and should be a bit easier on Chai too.
Thing is, I am a Freelance Artist.
Money is tight for me right now to take her into surgery right this instant. I'd need a few months to save up for this surgery, yet she needs this as soon as possible.
I am needing all the help I can get to save my little girl from the pain. It breaks my heart (literally) when she whines from the pain. You can see it in her face... It's worse now, refusing to walk much.
Please help me, help her.
Anything will be greatly appreciated!
Surgery Pricing (Average):
FOA - Not sure.
Hip Replacement - abou 3,000-4,000.
