Sean's Medical Fund

Sean is a full-time student who was in a motorcycle accident on his way home from class. This was his only mode of transportation as he could not afford to fix his truck. The roads were wet and three cars stepped on their brakes without warning, causing Sean to lose control of his bike as he tried to slow down.
He fractured his pelvis and lower spine, and spent a week in the hospital where he had surgery to put in rods to stabilize his injuries. Due to the severity of his injuries, Sean will not be able to go back to work or school for several months. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him and will need intensive physical therapy to ensure that he can walk properly again.
Unfortunately, the governor of South Carolina has not expanded Medicaid and Sean does not qualify for medical insurance. Sean also does not have short term or long term disability through his work which means he is 100% responsible for his medical expenses and has no way to financially support himself until he is able to go back to work. His medical bills from the hospital have reached over $100,000 and he will have to pay thousands more for physical therapy over the next year and another surgery to remove the rods in six months.
My name is Chandra and I am trying to help take some of the burden off of my boyfriend by raising money to help out with his medical bills and physical therapy. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and if that’s not possible, please just share his story. Maybe with enough voices heard, we can change the current law so that the tens of thousands of others who also don’t qualify for health insurance will never have to share the same fate as Sean.
