We all wake up each day with a certain routine. Get up, hurry off to work, make it through another day, and go home to rest for the next one. It’s a standard by which most of us are under, whether we like it or not. Imagine, for a moment, that you wake one morning feeling ill. It happens to all of us. Like most, days off are not much of an option. Picture yourself going to work and soldiering through it because “I’ve been through worse”. But what if you haven’t? What if, all of a sudden, you start seeing bruises, large bruises, and more of them by the day and greater in size. What if your breathing became shallow and you began to panic. What if, when you went to the ER, you were met with enough questions to grant you a prize? And what if that prize was devastating? Can you imagine it? Do you think you can comprehend 3 weeks in the hospital, being poked and prodded, scanned and rescanned. And when the tests come back and the doctor says Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, your mind goes blank. Suddenly, your routine no longer matters, but it is all you feel you need. This could be anyone’s story. Yours, mine, but it isn’t. We only get to hear about it. This is Jessica’s story. This is Jessica’s new “routine”.

Imagine your family and friends while you put yourself in her place. How does someone who is strong and independent ask for help? The right answer is, you shouldn’t have to. You shouldn’t have to see the mailbox filling up with final notices and late fees. You don’t want your friends to worry so you keep quiet about details until they know you can’t hold it in anymore. This is Jessica’s routine. You don’t want to hear about chemotherapy treatments and how wretched they make you feel. And you certainly don’t want to see that envelope sitting in the stack of bills. Jessica will.

This GoFundMe is special to so many people because of the person it represents. Jessica Gregorczyk is good, and proud, and decent, and would never ask for help. And her friends should make sure that she will never have to. Please, donate. Tell your friends, your neighbors, your churches, tell anyone who sees the value in being a truly wonderful person.
