Tea Rose's Surgery Fund
Donation protected
On November 25th 2015, I rescued a sweet little kitty from NOAH. I named her Tea Rose and very quickly fell in love with my baby. Before I adopted her she had a very hard life. She was found on the streets starving, full of worms, severely underweight, and with a respiratory infection. Though she was sick and very weak, she was sweet and trusting, and she quickly adapted to our warm, cozy home. After she came to our home, her health took a turn. She started having bouts of alternating diarrhea and vomiting. Her stomach would growl and she would run around the house in pain. It was about once a week at first, but over the months it’s become more frequent. Though she’s gained a little since we first got her, she’s still very underweight and clearly miserable.
After the diarrhea and vomiting increased in frequency, we took her to the vets. What they found was an object in her stomach that they suspected was blocking her intestinal tract. The vet suggested explorative surgery to remove the object and fix the problem, but because she is so small and fragile they warned us that she might not make it through the procedure. We took her to a second vet, just to be sure surgery was our only option before we put her life on the line. The second vet agreed that surgery was the only way to solve the health mystery.
Tea Rose went into surgery on the 31st of May, during which they found pieces of rubber in her stomach. It’s suspected that she ate rubber bands or something of the sort while starving out on the street. The vets removed the rubber and did the best they could, but we are not out of the woods. During the surgery, they also found an unnatural narrowing in her intestines. She made it through the surgery and will be able to come home soon, but once she’s recovered we’ll have to do even more tests and x-rays to solve the problem with her intestines.
I am a 16-year-old full time student, working part time at minimum wage. The full cost of the vet bills has fallen to me to pay for by myself. The cost of tests, x-rays, and surgery have now totaled $ 2700.00 and I don’t know what to expect for follow up costs. I am working as hard as I can, and I’ll be working through the summer to try and pay for the bills, but it’s still far more than I can handle right now.
I love my cat with all my heart and I will stand by her side no matter what, but this experience has worsened my depression and anxiety and I could really use some help to get her back to health. Tea Rose and I are incredibly grateful to anyone who can donate. Anything you can give helps a lot.
