I am requesting some help and support for a friend who has Congestive Heart Failure. While going for a few tests and expecting to go home, Both Jerry and Debbie were informed that Jerry’s numbers were off and had to be admitted. Jerry Runnalls is currently at UCLA Medical Center and has Congestive Heart Failure and is in need of a Heart Transplant.
Congestive Heart Failure means that the heart is not pumping as efficiently as it's supposed to be. As a result, the body's need for oxygen-rich blood is not met. Congestive heart failure is a condition in which weakened heart function exists together with a build-up of body fluid. CHF can be caused by many forms of heart disease:
1. Narrowing of the arteries supplying blood to the heart muscle
2. Past heart attack with a large enough scar tissue to interfere with the heart muscle
3. High blood pressure
4. Heart valve disease due to past rheumatic fever or an abnormality present since birth
5. Primary disease of the heart(cardiomyopathy)
6. Congenital heart disease (defects present at birth)
7. Infection of the heart valves and/or heart muscle itself (endocarditis and/or myocarditis)
Jerry’s heart has an EF rate of only 10% which I believe normal is at 50% to 90%.....HIS HEART IS WEAK and not pumping out the fluids around the heart as it should. Jerry had heart surgery a few years ago and even has a defibulator placed inside his chest. Now today he needs a Heart and our support.
I’m asking for your donations as I speak from experience….my son Michael just went through this and has two heart pumps in him keeping him alive till he too gets a Heart. The immediate expenses incurred are through the roof. Daily Parking, food, sleeping arrangements gas and more. The loss of income and time off that has to be taken is too much for sure!! They might even have to move closer for the time being as they are too far from the hospital which is a requirement for treatment. For those out there looking for a way to help him & his family, please consider donating money to help him cover some of these costs. Your outpouring of love & support over the last couple of days and months has been amazing & it is greatly appreciated by his entire family!! Please continue to keep Jerry and Debbie in your prayers!
