Jamie and Kasey's condo tragedy
Please respect their privacy during this difficult and tragic time. If you could pray for them as well!
I just wanted to update everyone on the status of little Troy. He was discharged by the animal hospital over the weekend. He has a very long recovery ahead of him- but the blessing is just that. He WILL recover! It seems he has adjusted very well to his new (temporary) home until Jamie and Kasey figure out the next steps. Through this all, their first priority has been to make sure Troy receives the proper care he needed and was comfortable in the process. Which thank you to the staff at the animal hospital- he was properly cared for. They are truly angels and went above & beyond to help Troy and make him as comfortable as they could. Troy's face, ears, paws, back and tail suffered significant burns. He makes up his hair loss with his personality and has been a purring fiend since getting home! Which is a great sign! You can tell he truly missed being away from his family, and now, back with them, I am sure his physical wounds will heal much more quickly! I will opt to not post any pictures of the present day Troy (to respect his privacy!) as they are very graphic. I feel it would be best to keep happier images of him in the public's head versus what he's battling right now. Thank you all again for your continued support and generosity. Every one of you are such incredible people. This world is much better with you in it, and we are lucky for that!
Last night the generosity of friends, family, anonymous individuals and strangers reached our goal of raising $15,000.00 for my brother, Jamie and his wife Kasey. This last week has given everyone a time to reflect on the important things in our lives- FAMILY. As difficult as it is to see the objects and things worked for be completely destroyed; Kasey & Jamie are truly blessed to still have each other (as are all the other tenants and their loved ones that were displaced during this terrible incident). They are in the very beginning stages of rebuilding their life together, and although it is a very long road ahead of them- they are both so appreciative of all that has been done. On behalf of Jamie, Kasey and both our families- thank you all from the bottoms of our hearts for coming forward during their time of need and offering your assistance whether it be financially, offering to donate items/clothes, sending prayers and positive thoughts their way, or just being a shoulder for them to lean on. They truly could not do this without all of you. An update on Troy... he had a minor set back about 48 hours ago and both Kasey and Jamie were devastated to hear this from the vet. Between the doctors and staff with their dedication and medical expertise they provided-- and Troy's willingness to overcome any odds, he made a miraculous turn around and is continuing to improve each day. Jamie was able to visit him the other day, and Troy immediately reacted to his presence by rubbing his face on Jamie's hands, purring and rolling onto his back for a belly rub (crazy cat)... This was enough evidence for Jamie to realize that there are obviously bigger plans for Troy to have survived such a traumatic ordeal, and still show such affection and appreciation to his "beloved human". Each day he continues to grow stronger and his injuries continue to heal. Thank you all again for everything you have done. Every one of you has truly been an angel to our families! "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."
My family is absolutely blown away by the generosity of ALL of you! Jamie & Kasey are so humbled and cannot even begin to express the gratitude they are experiencing from the outpouring of help. A silver lining in this tragedy- Troy is making significant improvements! He has a long road of recovery ahead of him; but thankfully is expected to do just that! On behalf of Jamie & Kasey (and our family)- thank you to the firefighter(s) who were brave enough and so compassionate to risk their lives to save him! We are forever grateful. You are all such amazing people & both them and us continue to be so lucky to have you all in our lives & supporting them in anyway possible during this very difficult time.
Thank you SO much to all those that have graciously donated, prayed and sent well wishes to them. Still waiting on updates for Troy- Kasey & Jamie are so strong, they will persevere through this tragedy. They couldn't do it without all the love and support from family, friends & strangers! You're all AMAZING and we're lucky to have you! ❤️
