No matter your political stance, you'll probably quite like my 'go fund me' profile pic! It was taken on a camping holiday by an open fire we built. I had a hot chicken dinner in my belly and a beer in my hand... Happy days...!
About 200 miles from where I'm sat, there's a group of refugees. Their camp fire isn't for fun, they'll be wondering if the kitchen will be there tomorrow or if it will have enough food to feed them. For whatever reason they're desperate to leave their own country. Men, women and children, living in squalor. About 200 miles away. Less as you follow the A417/419, M4, M25 and M20 to Dover. This is the route I plan to take, then the ferry, then make contact with other medical volunteers already on the ground in 'the jungle', I think my crew mate for both days is a paediatric nurse.
I have mixed views on immigration. However I'm pretty black and white on humanity. I support it. I support everyone's right to healthcare. French healthcare professionals don't enter the jungle, probably because it's a bit rough. I survived Bosnia, Kosovoso and various survival exercises when I was in the military, so, along with my nurse colleague, I'm going to do what I can to help for a couple of days.
I'd be grateful for a little help with the fare. That Costa you have everyday? Perhaps spare it and give me a hand with my bus fare or ferry ticket, or perhaps a night in the hostel, I'd be very grateful. I've given up paid for coffee, I've got a thermos instead now. Our fellow humans in the jungle would also be very grateful.
