Onward to Belgium

My name is Nick, I am 23, work as a mechanic at a local bike shop and a cat2 road racer.
In December of 2014, I moved from Columbus, Ohio to Encinitas, California to get some solid Winter training and escape the cold Ohio Winter. I was planning on returning to Ohio in the Spring but then ended up staying and racing in California.
I have had some amazing experiences in the past year and a half, racing in Southern California, home to some of the most competitive and deepest fields in amateur US cycling. Some of the highlights from this year are, 7th GC at San Dimas Stage Race; a 3-day event on the North side of LA. 9th at the Belgian Waffle Ride; a 146-mile road, gravel and dirt event in north San Diego county with 11,500 feet of climbing. Then 5th on stage 5 of the Tour of the Gila; one of the hardest single days on the amateur US calendar with 103 miles, 9,500 feet of climbing and all of it above 6,000 feet.
Now as I look to towards my cycling future I would like to transition to new experiences and challenges. Over the past couple of months, I have had people encourage me to follow my dreams and go race in Belgium. That seemed like some far off goal that could never happen, but in the past few weeks, things have started to fall into place and now the possibility of challenging myself at that level is within reach.
Funds raised here will be used to go over to Belgium and support me while racing. I am planning to head over in late June or early July and race the remainder of the season which winds down in September.
I would be grateful for support in this new endeavor, I look forward to some of the best riding and racing in the world. I am also excited for the chance to experience another culture and to meet many new people.
