Plattsburg Avenue Family Fund
My sister and her husband's home on Plattsburg Avenue in Burlington, Vermont was destroyed this weekend by a sudden and unexpected landslide. My sister, her husband and their son were thankfully able to escape their home as the Winooski River embankment eroded, taking their backyard with it. Trees crashed onto their roof, damaging their home. The soil under their home continues to erode into the river, making the house unsafe to enter. In time, this house and my sister's family's entire belongings, will be lost to the Winooski River. Outside from their lives and a few personal items, they have lost all of their belongings. We are all beyond devastated.
I am raising awareness and money to help my sister and her family get back on their feet. Because of the type of catastrophe, the home insurance will not be covering their losses. The money raised will be used to help rebuild their lives.
My sister and her family would like to thank the Burlington Fire Department Station #2 and Station #4, both on North Avenue. Their dedication to my family's safety and personal needs (feeding them) throughout the whole day on Sunday was unwaivering. Thank you for your unconditional support. To their property manager, Barbara Sweeney, who has gone above and beyond to help them secure the personal belongings they were able to salvage. And to their fellow neighbors on Plattsburg Avenue- thank you for offering storage, moving help, bathroom breaks and food/water.
Thank you for reading my family's story. We appreciate any help you can give them. Any donations, no matter how small, will be a blessing. Thank you!
