UPDATE:

I want to thank everybody that contributed to fund. We exceeded our goal which is amazing. The amount raised will cover replacing and repairing all of Frank's equipment and will allow us to purchase a couple of more handheld radios for the crew.

From Frank:
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. And thank you Doug for setting this up and raising the funds to replace my gear. Because of all this I'll be back in the water on the next swell and we'll be able to purchase some much needed radios for the team!!

Today we witnessed one of the biggest swells to hit Mavericks in over ten years. Waves were roughly measured in the sixty foot rhelm. With these huge swells always comes heavy drama, always. And today was no different. My close friend Frankie Quirarte along with Todd Turner, saved a boat skipper and camera man after their boat capsized on a giant swinger set.  Luckily no one was injured and the  boys safely delivered the crew to other boats that were in the line-up.
Waves washed the boat into Black Hand Reef. Meanwhile, way out in the lineup, none of the surfers were aware of what was going on. When Lucas "Chumbo" Chianca finally realized it, he decided to go in to try and retrieve some of his possessions near the sunken vessel.
Quirarte went in to make sure Lucas didn't get hit by the capsized boat.  A bunch of the boat debris from the boat got stuck in Frank's intake, and they  couldn't go anywhere.
Next thing you know there was a huge set coming and they had to get out of there. They scuttled the ski, and just watched it get destroyed."
His ski endured extensive costly damage as well as losing all of his camera equipment and his new cell  phone to Neptune's wrath.
Frank for years has unselfishly  been performing rescues out at Mavericks. Those that know Frank know that he's the real deal of being a guardian angel to those who try to challenge Mavericks.  All of this without asking anything in return.
I know, because I've seen it first hand. He would probably not be that stoked on asking for a hand-out so I'll do it for him and will gladely take the wrath. Please be kind and see it in your heart to help Frank out with this huge financial loss. Thank you.
