Sophie Update!

Sophia's surgery was performed on july 8th 2016. And after almost 5 hours of two surgeries at St. Christopher's Hospital. She had also her ENT surgery the same day. Which was decided by both Oral and the ENT it would be safer for her to be under aesthetics once and was a risk to perform two seperate surgeries. Both surgeries required different insurance. Her oral was partially covered by delta dental. Which left us to pay the remaining balance. Through go fund me. Judas Gray had a whipped cream pie thrown at him for donations.  owner, of Atomic Championship Wrestling, workers donated their wrestling merchandise for a raffle including Jimmy Hart "mouth of the south". and a wife and daughters put a bake sale up.  My grandmother sewed adorble bag holders and donated from each bag sold. Catholic charities reached out to help. Through all of that we were able to pay nearly all of sophia's surgery. We then put a payment plan in effect. Both of those surgeries are paid up to date recived my paid to date status :)  the medical bills piling up was why Wicked effects wanted to help. . help lift a financial burden. We have her inhalers and one is $83.00 alone each month, not including her neb treatments, medications (with a rx plan with BC insurance)the hospitals in Pennsylvania  and one in California. , emergency room copays and bills. Ambulance fees from while on vacation in California. Peds co pays. Dental, ENT, vision specialist copay and bills so on and so on We pay as we can. They often go to collections. So that is how so many people got together for a fantastic car show as one of the children they do benifit fundraising for each month. Over 100 cars took place on Aug 30th 2016. Models and photographers. We cannot express our gratitude towards everyone who joined in at a true time of need. This really is a blessing from God and we are so thankful for everyone's help. In may we had contacted the 69 news via email. Bc we hoped for help get Sophia the secondary insurance she is "supposed" to recieve by the state fir being special needs. Ee never heard anything back. Not even an email. While at the var show benifit The Mercury pottstown newspaper had a reporter there for the benifit and what Andrew Bealer and his Car Club..Wicked Effects does is truly amazing, month after month. Sophia needs oral surgery. Our uncovered by insurance total is $4365.00.
Sophia is high risk for a stroke if she does not get this surgery. And we must pay $1400.00 down to have this surgery and the remainder the day of. Plus $150.00 to schedule the surgery. We have private dental insurance through my husbands work as well as private medical insurance. We have applied for medical assistance to be denied or given a run around Even though in the state of Pennsylvania she is a special needs child who shouldn't be denied. But at each review she and our son gets denied to go through the hoops again...and again. A little about our Sophia. She was born at 33 weeks gestation Which means she was born nearly two months early. She is now 3 yrs old. She sees a lengthy list of specialist including cardiology (heart) Neonatal(follows brain development and growth) Pulmonology (lungs) and allergy. ENT for sleep apnea and she will be having sleep apnea surgery soon as well. She has calcium deficiency which is causing her teeth to go bad and will eventually effect her bones. She also has swallow dysphagia where her flap in her throat isnt mature correctly and liquids go into her lungs rather than her esophagus. she has problems swallowing liquids and often chokes. A swallow test with xray is how this was diagnosed. Sophia is involved in early intervention due to being in the 3% category on the charts in growth, cognitive, and mental development. which is in jeopardy bc of no medical assistance funding. She sees an occupational and speech therapist in the BCIU preschool. Troughout the last three years she has ben hospitalised for respiratory infections and on a week or more of oxygen due to pneumonia. Her lung issues are typically reasons for the hospital stays and visits. Sophia's oral surgery isnt something just routine as for any child. Her risks are very high and must be in a hospital setting not surgery center. She was cleared for surgery by her cardiologist but he will be in the surgery room on stand by. We are biting our pride making this gofund me. But as a mom...besides having a yard sale. Hoping someone will buy some prints of photos. And fighting with medical assistance. And prayers...this is something we need help with. We dont want to raise the whole amount but between me an luis we have to reach this so our daughter can have this surgery....which is life threatening if she doesn't have it.
