Internal Sunset of Things To Come

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Joshua Wilson and I am an up and coming indie game developer. I've been making games for a little over two years now, mostly pet projects and small games. I've been practicing and learning and only recently have I decided that it was time to turn this hobby into a career.

Recently, I participated in the GameJolt 2016 AdventureJam. I had started out with a group of four people and for various reasons they left the project with four hours until the jam ended. I was bitterly disappointed and decided to make an entirely new game in those four hours based off the theme.

What resulted was an interesting little mess called The Internal Sunset Of Things To Come. This is a short game about loneliness, work, and the need to be loved.

I'll level with you, I want to expand this game greatly, the idea, though only developed in four hours, has so much potential for excellent gameplay and story telling.

The intention is not only to expand the computer gameplay, but add other areas of gameplay to it as well. I want the player to explore their home, the city, the people, and every nook and cranny of the dystopian city the game takes place in.

When to expect the game:
If all goes well, I'd like to have the game done by the beginning of August. Time is a bit of an odd factor as it's hard to account for all the factors but I want to get this game out as soon as it's ready. I plan to keep all who follow updated with the games progress as time goes on.

More about the game itself:
The game takes it's roots in a lot of post-modern fiction. The game will deal with a lot of difficult subject matters including loneliness, loss, grief, work, and mental exhaustion. All of these will be rapped up in a subtle narrative about a man going to work every day.

Break Down Of Funds:

$100- For the steam greenlight fee.
$900- To keep the lights on for a while. I.e: Pay for food, rent, and what not.
$1000- To help hire a contract coder. It'll be immensely helpful to have someone on board with me to not only help make the game faster, but help expand the gameplay around the clock.

Why this means so much to me:

For a while, I've wanted to create something I can truly be proud of. Somthing I can be passionate about. I want to make a career in making games, I want to make a career where I can reconcile my want to create art with my want to have a successful job.

I want to tell a story that will fundamentally touch people.  I want to make something amazing, truly amazing that makes a person step back from their computer feeling as though they had gone on a journey. Essentially, I want something that I can be proud of.
