Help Princess beat Animal Cruelty
My name is Dee Walton and i am the owner of Sawyers Gully Animal Rescue at Weston.
On the 6th May 2016 i missed a call from a woman who had been feeding a stray cat that had kittens in her yard, she left a message to say that her neighbour has killed the mum and she didnt know what to do about the 1 week old babies.
When i received the message i immediately called the woman back but another rescue group had collected the kittens. The lady tells me that she was inside of her house when she heard a big bang so they went outside to investigate it. That's when they saw her neighbour holding the cat hanging upside down by her tail. The lady asked was the cat dead for which he responded "Well it shouldnt have been in my yard". Naturally i asked her to report the man to the Police and RSPCA.
The next day i find out that Mumma cat wasnt dead and she dragged herself back to where she had her kittens. It must have taken her hours in excruitating pain as her only instinct was to get back to her babies regardless of the pain she was in. The lady then calls the rescue who has the kittens and they pick her up.
This is where it goes pear shape - Mum cat and kittens have now been taken to the RSPCA. Not ideal at all so i drive immediately into the RSPCA to find out what i can do to help her, unfortunately as it is an ongoing investigation they wont tell me anything.
By this stage the owner has been found but doesnt want to take the animal back as she told her son the cat was given away to a lovely family.
The RSPCA asked her to surrender the ownership to them but fortunately she opted to surrender her to our shelter instead knowing what RSPCA's euthanasia rates are.
On Friday the 13/05/16 i went back to the RSPCA and said "I am here to see about our cat", i was so nicely told no its not your cat as we wont be doing the change of ownership at this stage. Let's just say "Not happy Jan". I said well lets just say that she had not better be put down.
On Monday the 16/05/16 at 10.57am, the head RSPCA Inspector called to say that the witness has failed to come forward and that they have never had a situation where ownership of an animal has occurred during mid investigation. I said that girl dragged herself back to her kittens (her family) so she needs a chance and i am going to fight for her. In the end i agreed to meet him on Thursday to talk to him and to see Princess for myself.
On Thursday 19/05/16 i waited nearly 1.50 hours and finally the vet came to take me in to see her. I think my heart shattered right there at that minute. Her legs are straight back and she drags herself around trying to tend to her babies. I will admit i broke down there and then. I dont think i will ever understand how people can be so cruel and could live with themselves but the reality it does happen and happen every damn day.
The inspector didnt come that day because they could no longer pursue it without a witness. The cat was mine to do what i wanted.
Princess has a fractured back, she is paralysed below her waist. How much injury has been sustained we dont know, what we do it is significant. She cant poo or wee by herself. This has to be done for her, 3 to 4 times a day. She cries when it happens (i would cry too). She's on medications twice a day.
On Saturday 21/05/16 my partner and myself went into the RSPCA to pickup Princess and her kittens. I had to learn how to empty her bladder (Which isnt easy).
She needs a MRI/CT done. SASH have quoted us $2600.00 plus a $200.00 consultation fee. A operation is going to be another $7000.00 to $8000.00.
In desperation i contacted Bondi Vet but the networkcompany said they are not in production at the moment and they dont have anyone to help at this moment.
This is where we are coming to you, Animal Cruelty cant be condoned and it shouldnt be either. This girl is not just a cat, she is a living and breathing animal that didnt deserve this. Ask yourselves, what if this was your animal?
If she can fight, we can fight and we are asking you to fight with us, follow her journey and help her get the help she needs.
Even through all that she has endured so far at the hands of a evil monster, Princess is still a lovely natured cat so devoted to her babies and she isnt giving up and neither will we.
I know alot of us dont have spare money but if you can find some spare change to help make a difference for Princess we would really appreciate it.
Sawyers Gully is a registered not for profit charity, therefore any donations over $2.00 are tax deductible and we would be more than happy to provide a receipt for your upcoming tax returns. Just pm us with a copy of your receipt and email address and we will send you one.
"Together we can make a difference"
Its been a big week at the rescue in regards to Princess.
Tuesday last week we had another newspaper come out to the shelter with the detective who was responsible for arresting the man who allegedly paralysed her. Having the police say enough is enough means the world to us because it may make people stop and think twice before committing such vile acts if it means they can be punished or sent to jail. They may not care about the animals but these scum bags generally do care about themselves.
On Friday our local radio station also interviewed me on the radio about not only Princess but just how much animal cruelty we are seeing in our area. My partner was so ever proud of me and said omg Dee if i dont hear you enough at home i have heard you on the radio every hour with the news as they also played snippets of the interview on the hourly news. Personally i think Don should love the sound of my voice lol.
Friday i took Princess to the vets (this is a weekly routine now), sometimes twice weekly. Poor Princess had blood in her urine and i was worried i may have caused it by pushing on her bladder too hard but happy to say the vet said it was fine and when she checked it was clear.
I am so mindful of everything she has had to endure and what she constantly has to endure, i just couldn't bear to be causing her any further pain or grief.
Unfortunately Princess has had an upset belly today and has had to have a bath after pooping all over herself and her bed. Happy to say that her tummy seems to have settled now.
One of her kittens now needs an operation. We discovered a lump on his tummy and got the vet to look at him as well. Poor Melmo has a hernia and will need this fixed in a few weeks.
Our next step is to put Princess in to have her teeth looked at. Not sure if you know but some of her teeth were broken in the attack and i noticed she is chewing her food to the side and grinding her mouth. We may need to remove some teeth if they are hurting her.
In all she is amazing and never gives up. I am proud to be her carer.
I will never give up fighting for justice for Princess and any other animals who need us to be their voice.
So thanks for supporting us and being part of not only Princess's journey but our rescue Sawyers Gully Animal Rescue Weston Australia as well.
It means alot to us all

Thanks Dee and the gang at Sawyers Gully Animal Rescue
As of tonight a gentleman from Weston NSW has been arrested in relation to the injuries inflicted on Princess.
A big thank you to the NSW Police and Maitland Detectives and police personnel who never hesitated for one minute to investigate and for showing us that animal cruelty will not be tolerated. Well done!
Well today Don and I took Princess down to sydney for her tests.
Unfortunately this little girl has suffered such severe trauma that she is permanently paralysed.
Tests showed an operation would be less than 5% success in fact they were 100% certain the operation would be pointless only causing her more harm than good.
At one point i had to leave the room when they were conducting the tests on her nerves, it nearly broke me but that little girl took it in her stride.
The trauma is so severe that she cant feel any pain from her waist down. The fibres and nerves have been destroyed in one foul action of animal cruelty.
Princess will never regain her own control of her bladder, she will need constant care for the rest of her life.
She will need constant vet appointments to check her bladder to ensure she isnt getting a urinary tract infection which is common with paralysis.
She will need constant urine and blood tests.
She needs to have a special wheelchair that can support her body but not impact her broken back.
She will always require her bladder and bowels to be emptied for her.
Her needs which include special diets, wheelchair, medications, vet appointments and tests are going to be ongoing and cost thousands of dollars.
Twice now the word euthanasia has been said to me, not because she is suffering but because its a huge task for anyone to take on.
Let me say this, this girl wants to live, the vets have confirmed she's not suffering as she cant feel pain (except on her fractured point). She is a fighter and we cant, no change that we Wont give up on her. Too many people walk away when it gets hard.
This girl has been let down so many times and hearing them say maybe if they had first seen her when it first happened and not nearly 3 weeks later things may have been different made me even angrier.
She is not going to be let down anymore. Princess will remain in our care until the day she dies. We will not walk away!!!!@@
Our next plan is to get her down to Melbourne for her wheels. For now though her body needs to heal as much as it can do. We need to keep her immobilised for another 5 weeks or so.
Thank you so much for supporting Princess and our rescue. Together we can make a difference, one step at a time.
Justice has to prevail here.
Truly heartbroken today
Love to you all
Dee, Princess and the gang
We will update you again when we know more.
Love to you all

So angry when I read this, I hope someone finds out what this sad excuse of a human being did to this poor animal and he get's some of his own treatment...I'd happily put him in a wheelchair! I'll be donating, I just wanted to check, is the figure above that you wanted to raise and have exceeded, include the wheelchair for Princess or just her med bills? If you think you have raised enough for all of her treatment *and* equipment then I'll donate to your main charity page as that isn't doing so well but if you still need funds for this little fighter let me know and I'll drop her a donation through. Keep up the good work, I'm so pleased you were there for Princess and she is now being well looked after and you re-united her with her kittens:) It's sad story but could have been a lot worse if you hadn't been there for her.
Dee, thank you so much for your kind heart as you are a living proof of true human kindness. I just donated and shared your post with my friends. It's heartbreaking to see a beautiful animal to be in pain because of human cruelty. I hope we are together can help. Princess deserves lots of love and her kittens need her. I can't stop thinking about her. With love, Artem
Through my anger, hate and tears, this beautiful soul filled my heart with love. She is a true golden hearted warrior who will let nothing stop her from loving her precious babies. God keep you in his care always beautiful mama. It warms my heart to see the humans with souls pull together to help such a beauty.
I despise the term "gentleman" when referring to a psychopathic monster! If for legal reasons you can't call them what they truly are, simply say MALE or FEMALE "human". Has anyone else noticed that in police reports or on the news they ALWAYS refer to a male perpetrators as "gentlemen", yet women are referred to as "Females"?
How is Princess and her kittens doing? She looks so identical to my precious Confetti Betti aka Sweet! My Sweet was found under a squash leaf 12 years ago with barely opened blue eyes( they later changed to gorgeous Topaz) we never found her Mom or any siblings, though we looked for weeks. Please let us know her progress! Praying for this remarkable girl and you all as well!
I was gonna say if there were funds left over from looking after Princess that you should use the rest to push for a conviction, but hey, Karma's a motherf*cker, he WILL get his.. At least you will be able to do more great things for other animals in the future . Much love from Northern Ireland.
I started crying just reading this, poor brave kitty, she did not deserve this (no animal does). I hope something really terrible happens to that man. Much love and all the best for Princess and her babies. Dee - much love to you too, you are an amazing woman. Unfortunately I can't donate this week but I promise to give something on pay day next week, and I have shared your link. SJ xxx
It actually is possible for Princess to be completely healed over time. Look up Dr. Eric Pearl on FB. There is a type of healing that he teaches and wrote a book about called Reconnecting healing, and you can read more about it on the posts that he's made. Not all of them are about classes, so you have to scroll past those to get to them. It's a type of energy healing; no devices or anything like that. Just frequencies and vibrations, which make up any and all matter in general, that go through your hands to repair the damaged DNA in any part of the body. Anyway, I hope this helps! I hate seeing abuse like this to any animal.
