Child Destiny Foundation (CDF) is a registered Kenyan non-profit-making organization, which was founded in 2012. Its inception was inspired by the need to address the plight and numerous challenges that parents of children with special needs face together with their children in their day to day activities.
The organization’s primary operational area is in Kibera Kenya, which happens to be one of the largest slums in Africa. Like most other slums in Kenya, Kibera is an urban informal settlement area that is deprived of the basic social amenities and infrastructure such as roads, hospitals, proper sanitation facilities and recreational areas. The children at CDF live in this slum, and they endure harsh and challenging living conditions that are already tough enough for their non-disabled counterparts. The parents strap the children on their backs and endure a not less than 5 miles walk to CDF center to obtain services from the volunteers and well wishers of the foundation. Those parents who come from deep within the slum use public motorcycles at a fee of about 3 dollars a day, which only but an eighth of the population can afford owing to poverty. Many are times the children are rained on on their way to the center and sometimes miss therapy sessions due to traffic or lack of transportation.
To holistically fulfill the primary mission of CDF, which is promoting the welfare of special needs children, we hereby urgently seek your generous support to help in purchasing a school van for the children so as to ease their transportation to and from the special day care unit. A used 10 seater van in Kenya would go for approximately 6000 dollars. Please help us reach this target. Your generous contribution will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
