"On May 2nd, Kyle went into his primary care to get some routine blood work for his annual exam. His doctor called him later that day and advised him to go to the emergency room ASAP because his counts were extremely low. After a few days at Bassett, and a bone marrow biopsy, we were informed that the test results came back with Leukemia A.L.L.- cancer of the blood. We made the drive up to Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital and have been there since. Kyle is on a 29 day intensive treatment plan where they will administer chemotherapy on a regular basis. The plan at this point is to be released after the 29 days (pending his counts look good) and making weekly visits to receive continuous chemo for the next year. He won't be able to return to work till at least after the 1st year is complete. Our journey has already had its ups and downs. Yes, he will lose his hair, but the team here has been AMAZING and we could not ask for a better attending to be in charge of his case. Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and good vibes!
