Bluesman Terry "Big T" Williams

Donation protected
Renowned Mississippi bluesman Terry "Big T" Williams needs your help. On Aug. 4, his house, his music gear, and all his wordly possessions burned to the ground. He and his wife escaped the blaze with just the clothes on their backs.

Godson of famed bluesman Big Jack Johnson, Terry "Big T" Williams is the real deal. Morgan Freeman hired him as the first musical director for Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale. He has also taught blues at the Delta Blues Museum and at Delta State Univ., nurturing a new generation in the Delta tradition. Along the way, Terry has wowed crowds at festivals and clubs around the country with his extraordinary guitar abilities.

Big T was named 2009 Blues Guitar Player of the Year by the West Coast Blues Society, which also enshrined Terry into their Hall of Fame. For a guy who stays under the radar of most blues fans, the award proves his nationwide appeal.

We are Resource Entertainment Group, a Memphis company that books Big T on events around the region, and we're making this appeal for Big T. He needs everything — guitars, amps, PA equipment, furniture, clothes, household goods, and a new place to live while he rebuilds.

Your donation will not just help a needy family, it will also ensure that a powerful voice of the Delta Blues legacy is not silenced by a tragedy.

One day, Terry might be able to create a great blues song about this fire. Right now, however, he's actually living a blues song, and it sucks. We will be forever grateful for any assistance you can give.

Thank you -- and please spread the word to everyone who loves the blues.
