Bob McHeffey Medical Expense Fund

Hi my name is Delaney McHeffey and my family loves to travel and we had been planning to take a tour full of students to Ireland over Spring Break. Ireland was BEAUTIFUL and it has been one of my favorite places I have been so far, but the trip wasn’t so great for my dad. On the second day of the tour, he came down with a cough and soon enough he had a fever and could barely walk with us around the various towns. But being the strong willed guy he is, he kept with us and did what he could so that the rest of the tour could be just as wonderful for the kids. On the last morning of the tour, April 19th, an ambulance came to pick him up from the hotel and take him to the hospital because he couldn’t even get out of bed. He tested positive for the H1N1 strain of the Swine Flu and has Bi-Lateral Pneumonia. The whole tour flew home without him and he is still over in Ireland in the hospital. Luckily, my mother was able to fly over to be with him because she was not originally on our trip so she is over there with him and supporting him. The doctors have given him a goal and he is working hard towards it very slowly. He is constantly in an oxygen bubble and hasn’t been able to get our of bed yet but he can sit up. He has a physical therapist coming twice a day to massage his lungs and break all of the gunk inside of them up. He is on his way to getting better but its going to take a very long time. Donating would mean so much to me because I am here by myself in America while my parents are over in Ireland and all I get to do is talk to them maybe once or twice a day. Its been very hard for me but I have a lot of support here and I know that it is even harder for my parents to be across the Atlantic. Eventually, my dad will be cleared to fly home, but he will still have a long way
to recovery here in America. Thank you all so much, it means the world to me to have my dad healthy and back home with me where he belongs.
