Prayers for Sawyer
Sawyer is a spunky and active 5-year old girl. However, on Saturday, April 23rd, a large tumor was discovered on her brain. She was rushed the UVA Medical Center where a team of Neurologists and Oncologists met to discuss the best course of action. After many tests and hours of analyzing the results, they decided to operate and try to remove the tumor. After a long and emotional 6 hour surgery the tumor was successfully removed!
On Friday, April 29, the Oncologists confirmed that the tumors were indeed cancerous and that cancer cells were already found in her spinal fluid. Sawyer has diagnosed with Anaplastic ependymoma (which is a stage 3.. the most aggressive kind). This type of brain cancer is so rare that the Oncologist is reaching out to specialists across country to determine best treatment plan.
Sawyer has been accepted into St Jude's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She is there with her mom, Jamie, and her dad, Nathan. She is having a few more tests done to determine what is the best treatment plan for Sawyer.
Jamie is a mother of 4 children. She has been a school teacher for 12 years and recently she picked up part time job to help supplement her income in order to provide for her children. Her children are the center of her world.
Nathan is a father of 3 children. He is local small business owner and works a part time as a bartender to provide extra things for his children. Since Sawyer has been sick, her daddy has not left her side!
If you would consider donating money to help take care of Sawyer during her treatments, help pay the medical bills that will start coming in, and help pay the family bills it would mean the world to Jamie, Nathan and their families.
Thank you for your support! #prayersforsawyer
I was just diagnosed with stomach cancer myself (already being dealt with, not advanced so no worries) and because of this our funds are very tight. But I have put Sawyer on every prayer list I am aware of, and we include her in our family's daily prayers. SAWYER: keep that beautiful smile and don't let the "yuckies" get you down! You've got this beautiful, you can beat this ugly disease!
Liz Matthiae - Absolutely! I talked to Jamie (she is a little busy with her, Sawyer and Nathan just getting to St Jude yesterday ) but she said that they would be honored if you used Sawyer's name and picture in your campaign. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or need any info.
The family most likely would be eligible for the EDCD waiver through the state which will serve as a secondary insurance & provide other supports. It is based on the child's income/ money. I run a non-profit in Fredericksburg that supports pediatric cancer families & we always suggest to families that they apply.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Our hearts are heavy but overflowing with the the love and generosity of so many!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you all so much for your support and prayers for our sweet girl!
Just concentrate on her we will pull through and help. It's bad enough to have the stress of your daughter being sick very sick and having to worry about bills on top of everything else. Which I am sure is last thing on your minds. You all are in my prayers!!
Can't even express how thankful we are! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much! Our family is truly humbled by everyone's generosity !
During the time that my friend and I were planning an upcoming multi-vendor event at the AshCreek Clubhouse we found out that Sawyer had been diagnosed with Anaplastic ependymoma (which is a stage 3 cancer). We immediately decided that we wanted to do something to help raise funds for the family, so we decided to add a Silent Auction and Drawing to benefit the family. This sweet little girl attends Pearson's Corner Elementary School and she lives in our AshCreek neighborhood, so it is very close to home. Please come join us June 25 in the AshCreek Clubhouse from 9-2pm. We will have a Silent Auction and Drawing basket filled with donations made from the community and the vendors to benefit Sawyer. 100% of the proceeds will go to Sawyer's family. Also, Kona Ice will be there and they will donate 20% of the proceeds to Sawyer's family. The Mechanicsville Local Newspaper: https://issuu.com/mechlocal/docs/201610615rsma/9?e=0 #prayersforsawyer ❤️
I am not able to contribute monetarily as I am on a fixed income and my own bills stay behind so there is never any extra money for anything - never even enough to do what needs to be done, but I can certainly pray for Sawyer and her family and I will definitely do that. asking God to miraculously heal they sweet child and give her psrents grace as they go through this.
