Take strides with Kelly Morse

Kelly was busy pursuing her dream of becoming an Optometrist when on September 1, 2015 she became ill with what seemed like an everyday virus.  Four days later she would be on life support at UVA fighting for her life.  After 33 days on the ventilator she began her battle to recover from ADEM (Acute Demyelinating EncephaloMyelitis) probably caused by a virus.  Her brain and entire spinal cord suffered from severe swelling that left her quadraplegic.
Since October 8, 2015 she has been in daily rehab to regain what she has lost. Philadelphia offered both inpatient and outpatient rehab and we lived at the Sheraton for many months.  She currently is enrolled in outpatient rehab at Kennedy-Kreiger Institute in Baltimore.
She has regained her full ability to use her upper body and is slowly seeing progress in regaining the use of her legs.  KKI has many state-of-the-art tecniques to jump start her spinal cord and stregthen her legs.
We are all so thankful for all the support from friends and family.  We know that Kelly's progress is in part because of all the love that has been shown to her through all of this.  The support that we have recieved so far allowed us to stay with her during the acute hospital stay and inpatient rehab.
We are now at a point that people are asking us how they can help us and we have been encouraged to set up a new Go Fund Me to offset the costs of staying with Kelly in Baltimore.  Her mom, Nancy, is not working while she stays with her and the equipment and bills are piling up.
It is so hard to ask for assistance but we have had so many people request that we set something up so they could help us.
Thank you for all your love, prayers and support.  We could not have made it this far without you.  Please keep up with Kelly's progress via her blog (.http://kellymorsesjourney1.blogspot.com/)
She will try to update it regularly to keep you up to date on the STEPS she is taking towards recovery.
God bless you all!
